Rossano Siragusano, Technical Director for Elsinor Theatre, has been at the centre of a transformative project to revolutionize the theatre’s lighting system.
Siragusano, a seasoned electrician within the event, fashion and conventions markets, fell in love with the theatre in 2008. Recognizing the unique value of his skills in this environment, he was appointed to manage the technical direction of the company in 2018, overseeing three theatres and approximately 200 days of touring each year.
As part of a technical transformation, Elsinor Theatre has recently implemented Luci Della Ribalta products, utilizing PNRR funds made available for improvements to energy efficiency within the venues. At the very heart of this upgrade program is Teatro Cantiere Florida in Florence, which has undergone a significant modernization of its lighting equipment, resulting in a substantial reduction in energy consumption.
La selezione degli apparecchi Luci Della Ribalta è stata guidata dall’esperienza di Massimo Lobefaro di Imagine Light, distributore italiano di LDR(www.imaginelight.it) con sede a Milano. Dieci LDR Alba 250 RGBW fresnel luminaires, known for their excellent performance and flexibility, were chosen to address the needs of the theatre.
“The LDR Alba has perfectly met our needs. The light quality, aperture, and colour rendering possibilities that the product offer are incredibly well-suited for its use within a theatrical environment,” says Rossano.
“At Teatro Cantiere Florida, we have a 9-meter stage opening, with a front truss located approximately 10 meters from this. With just five to six Alba luminaires, the stage is perfectly covered. What surprised me the most is the versatility of the equipment. I initially thought I had purchased fresnels, suitable only for wider applications. Instead, I found luminaires that are perfectly multifunctional, capable of functioning as specials with significant adaptability,” continues Rossano.
“As for the white light, a crucial element for those in the profession, I must say that these fixtures tick every box. We compared the colour temperature of the old PCs to the new Alba fresnels, and from 2700K to 6000K, the fixture proves to be impeccable. Indeed, I would say that they are capable of meeting the demands of even the most meticulous lighting designer!”
Management of the new lighting system is entrusted to Antonella Colella, Technical Manager of Teatro Cantiere Florida. Colella has seamlessly integrated the new luminaires into various configurations, highlighting their versatility and adaptability within the venue.
Looking to the future, Siragusano emphasizes the need for numerous upgrades across the Italian theatre landscape, one currently grappling with an endless technical dilemma surrounding outdated equipment and a need to modernize.
Rossano Siragusano’s implementation of Luci Della Ribalta’s products at Elsinor represent a step towards a more innovative, progressive and energy-efficient theatre. The project has been made possible thanks to the support of PNRR funds, helping to illuminate the future of Italian theatre with modern and sustainable solutions.
